The first generation Mustang was manufactured starting in March 1964 and created a new class of automobile known as the “Pony Car”.  This new design was the inspiration of Lee Iacocca who wanted a new “small car” that had a European flair.  The new car had to seat four, have bucket seats and a floor mounted shifter, weigh no more than 2,500 pounds and be no more than 180 inches in length, sell for less than $2,500, and have multiple power, comfort, and luxury options.  The success of the Mustang changed how cars were marketed and appealed towards men and women alike.  The engine and drivetrain options also allowed for a wide variation of economy to power.  Although not a true muscle car Mustangs became a stable for modifications and included Carrol Shelby’s GT350.

This 1966 Mustang hardtop is finished in the very rare Tahoe Turquoise with the matching two-tone turquoise interior. A ceramic coating has been added to the entire car and the paint looks fantastic. This Mustang has service records dating back to the beginning of its life and includes the original bill of sale from 1966. Power is derived from the matching numbers 200ci straight-six and is paired to an automatic 3-speed transmission. It is noted that the engine and transmission had a recent full rebuild at 95,000 miles and the car has only had 234 miles put on it since the rebuild and the carburetor was rebuilt in 2018. The car has had new tires installed along with a new alternator and battery installed recently. The seller has noted that there is a small chip in the paint on the passenger side door (pictured) but besides that there are no issues with the paint. If you are looking for a unique and comfortable cruiser that is easy on the gas mileage look no further!

Trying to look up the VIN, but says it’s not showing anything? Is that the correct VIN? Thanks!
