The BMW 3.0 CS, or the E9 as they are known, were produced from 1968 to 1975 and were based on the based on the 2000 C/CS four-cylinder coupés.  They were then enlarged to fit the larger inline M30 six-cylinder engine. The beautiful E9 bodywork was built by Karmann and had a very successful racing career racing in the European Touring Car and Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft racing series.

This 1973 BMW 3.0 CS has been in Southern California its entire life, being orignally purchased at Zipper BMW in Beverly Hills. Finished in Polaris Silver over a navy blue leather interior and was optioned with a factory sunroof and air conditioning. The car has its numbers-matching 3.0-liter M30 inline-six and a Getrag 265 5-speed manual gearbox was added along with a upgraded AC compressor and 38mm EMPI carburetors. The car had a complete windows out repaint in the mid 1990’s which still looks amazing. At that time the Getrag transmission swap was done.  The interior is mostly original although the front seats have been recovered, the dashboard refurbished and new walnut wood trim installed.  There is a aftermarket Alpine bluetooth enabled radio which was also installed.

In June 2019, the car earned 1st place in its class at the Huntington Beach Concours d’Elegance. This E9 is now offered with lots of paperwork including the factory manuals, service records back to the 1970s, and a clean California title.

These cars are hot right now and recent sales keeping pushing the envelope of pricing.  Don’t miss out on this beautiful car.

In my experience it does not hurt the value and some times adds value if it makes it better. In this case the 5 speed manual might be the example of adding value. Much better driving experience than the auto.

Wow, amazing looking car. Does it hurt the value by the tranny change?

Beautiful car. I have always loved the lines, especially the rear window curves.
