The Bricklin SV-1 is a car that was designed to offer unparalleled safety whilst maintaining a beautiful look. Many car companies complained about safety regulations ruining their styling but Bricklin was determined to integrate safety into their design. As a result the SV-1 or “Safety Vehicle-1” was born. The most prominent safety design is the front bumper that can absorb impacts up to 10 MPH without any damage being obtained from said impact. Another interesting feature is the fact that these cars are not painted, but rather the acrylic panels are a solid color so scratches can be sanded out. The SV-1 is powered by a Ford 351ci Windsor V8 paired to an automatic 3-speed transmission. This unique example is mechanically sorted and has several major upgrades performed by Bricklin specialists Classic Auto Restorations in Riverside, including Pneumatic door system upgrade, Wireless door control, upgraded pneumatic pump and cylinder, custom SV1 embroidered pneumatic covers, upgraded carbon fiber dash, digital sport gauges, and upgraded center console. I remember these coming out when I was in high school and they were very unique but have never really seen one on the road here we have two of them.
