This 1973 BMW 3.0CS 5-Speed in Chamonix white was acquired by the seller in October 2018 and has lived in Southern California since the 80’s. The car underwent a high-level restoration in the 90’s by Steve’s BMW in Hermosa Beach and has since been maintained by the highly reputable BMW shop, CoupeKing, for over 25 years. Work under current ownership since acquiring in 2018 includes a complete A/C upgrade to a 134 Sanden system with new lines, new radiator with fan shroud and cooling hose kit, new water pump, and fan clutch, removed and restored gas tank, new set of Michelin Pilot Sports 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rears mounted and balanced. Carburetors were removed and restored, balanced and tuned, and new fuel lines, fuel filter, and a new brake booster.
This 3.0CS is equipped with 5-speed, dual Weber carburetors, staggered-width 16×7″ front and 16×8″ rear Coupeking Alpina-style wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, upgraded air conditioning, and an Alpine AM/FM stereo. This E9 is now offered with service records, spare parts, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
Staggered Coupeking Alpina-style wheels, 16×7″ front and 16×8″ rear, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sports 205/55/16 and 225/50/16, mounted and balanced in 2019 with less than 500 miles. Tie rods, center track rod with a new center track rod, and new idler arm bushing were all replaced in 2018. Equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, all serviced with the brake booster replaced in 2018.
This BMW 3.0CS is trimmed in red Oxblood leather, with color-coordinated mats lining the floors and woodgrain trim accenting the black dashboard and door panels. Appointments include lap belts with attachable shoulder straps, serviced power front, and rear windows, an Alpine stereo head unit, and cold ac. A tool kit is stored neatly in the trunk outside the toolbox, with all tabs intact and no cracks or warping.
A Nardi steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows just under 46k miles, of which less than 500 have been added during current ownership.
A factory-rebuilt 3.3L M30 Engine with Weber 32/36 Carburetors was purchased from Vasek Polak BMW and installed by Steve’s BMW in Hermosa Beach during their restoration of this 3.0CS in the 90’s. Service during current ownership included the carburetors removed and restored, balanced and tuned, with new fuel lines and filter, a new radiator, a Coupeking custom transmission mount kit, and a fresh exhaust system installed during current ownership.
Extensive service records documenting each year as far back to 1987 from the current owner are included in the sale, along with two keys and the manufacturer’s literature.
